Major Improvements Underway at the Charleston Oceanfront Villas The owners of The Charleston Oceanfront Villas recently elected to install a new six-foot fence, complete with electronic security gates, to enclose the entire property. Also on the improvement agenda was a total revamp of the landscape design to better complement the building’s architecture and locale. Dunes Regime Management Vice President, Linda Jernigan, commented: "Residents and guests will enjoy greater security and be able to utilize their parking spaces once again without worry that the spaces will be filled by non-guests." The pools on the oceanfront will also benefit from the added security. There have been instances of use by non-guests who walk up from the beach and even a few minor acts of vandalism. The walk-through gates on either side of the property are activated through a special code, which will be changed frequently; and the drive-through arm gate at the entrance is activated through a card reader mechanism. The massive fence columns are covered with stucco, matching the building’s exterior, and are lined with white aluminum fencing between each column. According to Keith McCann, owner of a Charleston Oceanfront Villa and sales agent for Dunes Properties, "the higher fencing was much needed and should also increase the value of the property. We owe a world of thanks to the HOA Board Members for volunteering their valuable time - countless hours - for the benefit of the Charleston Oceanfront Villas." On the HOA Board are: Nicholas Clekis, Greg Anderson, Eddie Stokes, Ellie Albert and Phil Shroyer. Along with the substantial fencing, the entrance was redesigned by relocating the sign and adding more plants around it. "These may sound like simple changes, but the effect was dramatic. We have heard many compliments from the owners about these improvements," stated board member Eddie Stokes. Construction of the fence, along with initial landscaping design improvements, was completed at the end of June.
